“It Wasn’t Just a Drink”

Change doesn’t come when you go looking for it.

It doesn’t happen just because you started something big.

It appears quietly, in the ordinary moments.

Yesterday, when I wasn’t feeling well,

a chef handed me a bottle of sports drink.

Something I normally wouldn’t drink.

For a moment, thoughts like “artificial sweeteners…” crossed my mind.

But then I simply thought, “Thank you,” and accepted it.

When I drank it,

that kindness traveled with it, and soothed my throat.

It wasn’t just a drink—

it was exactly what I needed in that moment.

And I realized:

I had become someone who could receive it.

“Growing” might sound like something big,

but maybe it starts with something much quieter—

just allowing yourself to feel.

At first, we don’t really know what it means to “take care of ourselves.”

But in these small things,

there are always hints.

Feel first.

And then,

your thoughts become clearer.

They begin to sound more like you.

And slowly, you start to think in ways that actually serve your life.
